It has been more than 4 years since I started the original "NBA Generations Sim League" which was eventually abreviated to Gen$ and became a very fun league for all those who were involved.
Gen$ was born through my wish to have a sim league that was actually fun and accurate and ran in an professional manner. I had been in many FastBreak or SeasonTicket sims before and I realized that the commish/simmer is always going to be biased towards his own team and it gives that person an unfair advantage over the other players. There were also simmers that didnt care about the realistic details I thought was important to make a good sim league.
Gens started in April of 2004 when I was going through EMT school. I found a copy of SeasonTicket basketball at a local gamestop and realized that I was ready to start my own league. I was able to find alot of sim veterns from around the web thanks to various websites or dead sims.
Gens started off slow as its first season was the 1995-1996 season which was the first season I started started watching NBA basketball. Once the 1996 Draft Hit in the league, the activity level was out the roof and simmers enjoyed a realistic sim league where the commish didnt have his own team and just acted as a figure head for the league and to make sure trades were fair.
The League was very successful but many people wanted to start over again with fresh teams after 2 GM's in the league were able to built teams that were practically unbeatable, but by fair means of course. I had gotten tired of the bugs and problems in the season ticket engine and was able to get my hands on the Fast Break updated basketball sim engine which was built from season ticket. This prompted me for a another league idea...
Gen$ Again or Gens 2 had all the makings of being a good sim league. It had the userbase from the original Gens but only managed to last one season with a severe loss in activity and the loss of magic that the 1st Gens had.I was disapointed and turned the league over to hotmail51, who basically gave up on the project after a week leaving Gens2 dead.
